Dance Department

Under the new leadership of Aubrey Lynch II, former dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and original cast member and Associate Producer of Disney’s The Lion King, HSA’s Dance Program seeks to nurture talent through dance, while strengthening the student’s relationship to their inner self, fellow students, and their community. Our dance students learn respect, discipline and teamwork, and the Program strives to inspire each artist to become a citizen of the world. Through rigorous training, students learn what it means to harness the power of their talent. Whether a student wants to become a dancer or simply wants to enjoy dance, our Dance Program guides students, while stressing the importance of punctuality, presentation, and etiquette.

Although the HSA Dance Program nurtures serious talent to sustain real careers in dance, the department also has developing community-based programs to inspire young students and adults to dance for fun.

“Dance is the ultimate in self expression,” as legendary choreographer Alvin Ailey noted. The HSA Dance Program inspires its students, Harlem, and the world to express themselves in ways that strengthen all of our communities.
