Jeffrey Laikind
Jeffrey Laikind brings to HSA almost 50 years of successful leadership in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors. A Certified Financial Analyst since 1967, he was Co-Founder and Managing Director of Prudential Securities Asset Management, raising over $2 billion in assets and generating over $50 million in revenues. He has also held senior management positions at Shikiar Asset Management, H. N. Howard, Furman Selz, Wertheim & Co., and A.G. Becker. His corporate directorships have included Harken Energy (he purchased George W. Bush's oil company and served on the Board with him for six years), North American Resources (assets over $1 billion), Quadrant Romania, Inc.(the Pepsi Cola Bottler in Romania). He is currently a Trustee of Riversource Mutual Funds; the 8th largest mutual fund family in the U.S. Mr. Laikind is currently on the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee of American Progressive Insurance Company, Hapoalin Securities, and Darien Rowayton Bank.
In 1999, Mr. Laikind, a nationally ranked squash player, co founded and served as chairman the Board of StreetSquash, an urban enrichment program currently serving over 750 high school students in Harlem, In 2009 StreetSquash opened its new S.L. Green Community Center, with four classrooms, The J.P. Morgan library and eight international squash courts. StreetSquash currently serves over 1500 Harlem residents each week, including 240 young men and women, who participate in their after school squash program. He also has chaired the Executive Committee of the Board of the New York City Opera. From 1985-1997 he was Team Captain of the delegation that represented the United States at the Quadrennial Macciabiah Games He is a graduate of Cornell University and attended Graduate School of Business at New York University.
